2022. BLOOD SUN

CGI
9:16 format, colour, 30-sec loop

As part of CROSSROADS Media Art Festival for Singapore Art Week 2022
Presented by ToNewEntities; Curated by Rafi Abdullah

Pivoting Blood Sun in a post-nuclear, post-apocalyptic environment, the work speculates a fictional arrangement of a protagonist in an alternate paradigm. It negotiates the hybridity of interspecies relations and its relativity to the Malay Peninsula. Referencing the figure of the Malayan tiger and the uncanny in Octavia Butler’s Lilith’s Brood, Blood Sun revives their embodiment as an ungendered-hybrid-mythological-symbiote, set in an environment that contrasts to the cityscape’s intersection.
